However, I can remember exactly what got me into cars.
It was Thanksgiving 2003. My family had driven up to north Georgia to have dinner with my grandparents and other family. After the conclusion of dinner we’re going back to my grandparents house. My uncle had brought his 2002 M3, which my dad asked him to give me a ride in. I don’t remember too much about it, other than the fact that I needed one. Can’t remember what about it that I liked, but from that day I’ve been a BMW person.
Another thing I can remember developing a want for was a Rolex Datejust. This past week, I was reminded of why I wanted one.
Back in high school, we came across a fake one. Now, I had worn a watch before, in fact from middle school through sophomore year, but I never really had a desire for a luxury watch. That was until we came across this:
I got sent these pictures this past week; they’re a decade old at this point and the watch is lost to history. We’re 99% sure it was fake, but it was a pretty good quality fake.
This is part of the reason I bought an M3 and part of the reason I wear a real Datejust now.

I drove my friends dad’s 01 M roadster as an underage driver. I knew I wanted a BMW and particularly one with an S54 after that. Ironically I was co-pilot in the same car when another friend wrecked it on some hairy backroads near us. We were unscathed pretty amazing for a rag top.
The only thing I couldn’t tell you when or why is my love of frogs (yes the hoppy amphibians) I’ve always just liked them and become unreasonably upset when they are fucked with. Wouldn’t dissect one in high school etc...

I just wanted a BMW, anything even a 528e would’ve done it for me. First BMW I drove, back in 2007, was a 1997 528i. First M car I drove, in 2008, was an E64 M6 with a 6MT. I really wanted an e39 M5 out of college, since I never thought I’d be able to afford an E9X M3; I spent a lot of time on that configurator in college.

The Z3 is one of the few verts allowed at the track without extra protection. Shame on your friend, if it was an S54 then it had stability and traction control (earlier MZ3s didnt) so theres no excuse lol

It was an S54 but I couldn’t tell you if TSC and DSC were on it was almost 20 years ago. I was 15, the driver was 17 n either of us had any business in that car and he was flying into an up hill left. The kind of hill where you’ll come off of the ground if you’re going too fast...we did. Sailed sideways off to the right of the road and rolled a couple times. The car was obliterated but we were unharmed. L ess than 5k on the clock:(

Sad, but good to know it kept you safe. I had one or too poo inducing moments the first year with my coupe, mainly in the rain.

It’s truly amazing how well modern cars are engineered. Also, I have been very lucky . There was that accident, then I got in a head on in my first “car” Mazda Protege 5 and escaped with only a burn from my seat belt and a face full of powder from the airbag. There was only one wheel left on the car...

It truly is. The shit they’ve started doing nowadays is amazing. Certain Mercedes play a noise to protect your eardrum for the airbags going off, they move you further inboard if your t boned, and the modern stability systems are awesome.
My Dad loved his corvette’s wet mode after taking the bondurant course. You can basically drive like the dumbest jackass on the planet and the car will not let you spin out
